NRC – We’ve got you covered for a safe ride home!

NRC Taxis are delighted to be supporting World AIDS Day by distributing free condoms on the streets of Dublin city to mark the day.

On Saturday November 26th NRC will be handing out condoms to adults over eighteen in Dublin city centre between 7pm and 10pm to raise awareness of this important day.

To celebrate NRC are running a competition for a €50 One4all voucher – just pop over to the NRC Facebook page to enter.

What’s more – we’ll be offering a free taxi ride home on Saturday 26th November – just post a photo of your night out with the #saferidehome #worldaidsday hashtags and we’ll pick 3 lucky people to get a free taxi home (terms and conditions apply).

World AIDS Day is held on 1 December each year and is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died. World AIDS Day was the first ever global health day and the first one was held in 1988.

There are an estimated 34 million people worldwide living with HIV. More than 35 million people have died from the virus, making it one of the most destructive pandemics in history.

Getting to the big concerts in Dublin Summer 2015

marlay_park_rathfarnham_dublin_concerts_72772What a smashing summer of amazing events we’ve had so far and we’ve a lot more to look forward to! From Marlay Park to the Iveagh Gardens, the Aviva and not forgetting Croke Park for plenty music and GAA action.

Where ever you are going make sure you plan your journey to and from the venue well in advance and give yourself an additional 2 hours travel time! It may seem crazy but there is a huge volume of people heading to these gigs so traffic delays are inevitable! Marlay Park have an amazing line up with Avici on 3rd July, Paulo Nutini and Imelda May on July 4th and then Longitude Festival happening from July 17th to 19th featuring Hozier, The Vaccines, Alt J, The Chemical Brothers and loads more fantastic acts.

So how do you get there?! Marlay Park run a shuttle bus service from the city centre direct to Marlay Park. The shuttle bus service operates from Georges Quay in the city centre direct to Marlay Park The fare: from €10 and can be booked online in advance.

The Iveagh Gardens play host to a great mix of acts this summer. Paloma Faith on July 2nd, The Frames July 4 & 5, Chic featuring Niall Rogers on July 9th, St Vincent on July 10th and to finish it off Damien Rice on July 12th. If you’re up for a laugh get down to the Comedy Festival in The Iveagh Gardens from July 23rd to 2th.

As a city centre location The Iveagh Gardens is serviced by Dublin Bus, Luas and Dart. Entry is usually available through the gates at Harcourt Street.

The Script with Pharrell Williams take to the big stage in Croker on June 20th and later in the summer July 24th and 25th Ed Sheeran will be entertaining the crowds at Croke Park. On the GAA front the Leinster GAA football semi-final kicks off on June 28th, Leinster GAA hurling final on July 5th, Leinster GAA Final on 12th July and plenty more action to come over the summer months.

Getting to Croke Park is relatively straight forward as it’s close to the city centre and is serviced by bus, dart and trains. Access to the stadiums is restricted to specific gates based on your seat so make sure to check before arriving to the area.

Gig of the summer happens in the Aviva with AC/DC hitting the stage on July 1st! There is no parking around the stadium so to make life easy and get an NRC to and from the gig! After the show you can usually get a taxi from outside the ground by simply flagging a taxi down. The entry points to the stadium for ticket holders are colour coded – either red, green, orange, blue or purple – with each colour designating the route that needs to be taken to access the stadium. You will also have to exit the stadium by the same colour coded route.

What’s on in Dublin – May 2015

fieldThe 50th anniversary staging of The Field is running in The Gaiety for the rest of May! This iconic play written by John B Keane, is a gripping and masterful piece of writing, Starring Aidan McArdle, Ian Lloyd Anderson, Catherine Byrne, Geoff Minogue and Maria McDermottroe, this is a production not to be missed.

If musicals are your thing you can’t miss Calamity Jane in The Bord Gais Energy Theatre from 19 to 23 May. Tickets are still available for this highly acclaimed productions which is presented by Watermill Theatre Newbury.

The end of May equals the annual Bloom festival in the Phoenix Park starting on 28 May and going in til 1 June.  You will find the very best of Ireland’s landscape gardeners and designers as well as 150 food producers, plant village, crafts, live entertainment and children’s zone and much more.

International Literature Festival Dublin 16 – 24 May is Ireland’s premier literary event and gathers the finest writers in the world to Dublin! There is a fantastic line-up of readings, plays and other literary events so well worth checking out.

The 3 Arena have a variety of shows in May including Take That, the UK’s most successful live act ever, An Evening with multi Grammy award winning Mark Knopfler, 5 Seconds of Summer ‘Rock Out With Your Socks Out’ tour and world famous tenor Placido Domingo.

Fun Runs in Dublin Spring/ Summer 2015!

With the evenings getting longer and Summer only around the corner – it’s no better time to start running – there are so many organised runs across the city – you have no excuses! Great Ireland Run – 11th April

Work off all those Easter Eggs at the Great Ireland Run 10km which takes place on 11th April in the Phoenix Park. Always a great day out with big crowds participating at this event.

Samsung Night Run 26th April

Another chance to run after work! The Samsung night run is always a popular event staring at Custom House Quay. Enjoy Dublin by night as you run through the city’s streets – a must if you haven’t done it before!

Darkness Into Light – 9th May

Starting at 4.15am, and crossing the line just as dawn is breaking, the phenomenon that is Darkness Into Light, the annual 5km walk/run, will celebrate its seventh year on Saturday, May 9th 2015, in the Phoenix Park.

Calcutta Run – May 16th

This is charity run is open to all levels, family, kids ending with the Finish Line Festival with BBQ, bar, live music, DJ and fun activities in the grounds of Blackhall Place Saturday, Starting at Blackhall Place there is both a 5K and 10k route You can bring the whole family including the dog along to enjoy the scenic route through the Phoenix Park.

Mini Marathon – June 1st

Always a popular run – people of all shapes and sizes run, jog or walk the mini marathon – a great day out!

Docklands Run 20th June

For those of you who can’t make the weekend runs – this evening10k run takes place in The Docklands at 7:40pm, with the 5k starting at 8:25pm.

Keith Duffy 5K – 30th June

This year to mark Autism Awareness month Keith Duffy is doing a 5K run the Phoenix Park, on 30th June.

Colour Dash – 27th July

This starts and finishes just off the main avenue in the Phoenix Park.   Make a splash of colour while you run!

Lucan 5K – 12th May

The Tom Byrne Memorial organised by Lucan Harriers AC is one of the longest running events in Dublin.  The Lucan 5k starts on the main Newcastle Road, then into Griffeen Valley Park, before finishing (uniquely for a road race) on the Lucan athletics track.

Rock & Roll Half Marathon – 2nd August

If you love music and running this event is for you! Starting in Corner of North Wall Quay & Castleforbes St, Dublin, Ireland and finishing in the Phoenix Park – you can enjoy live music while you run!

Dublin Staff Relay – 10th September

The Dublin Staff Relay encourages workers from all over Dublin and its surrounds to join their colleagues in a fun 5 x 5km relay in the Phoenix Park. A great team building night out!

Dublin Half Marathon – September 19th

If you are gearing up for the Marathon – this event is a must! Starting in the Phoenix Park on Saturday September 19th at 10am – make sure you’ve done your training!

Its Easter time so no better time to visit the Butlers Chocolate Experience in Dublin!  With  lots of interesting things to learn about how chocolates are made, from the cocoa bean right through to being packed in beautiful gift boxes to be shipped all over the world. 27/28 March – Michael Flatley Lord of the Dance

Lord Of The Dance: Dangerous Games is back in town for a spectacular new staging of the much-loved traditional master piece. 31 March – Nicky Minaj
