Drivers Trek to Everest in aid of Irish Kidney Association

We are delighted to announce that we have picked the Irish Kidney Association as our charity partner for 2017.

Patrick Brown & his son Robert , both taxi drivers with NRC, will be completing a trek to the Everest Base Camp in the Himalayas in May this year. They will be with members of a party travelling under the umbrella of Earth’s Edge, an agency that specialises in organising such ventures.

They will be funding the trip themselves so all monies raised by way of sponsorship will be paid directly to the Irish Kidney Association.

In recent years Patrick has had a kidney removed so he is fundraising out of gratitude for his recovery and out of a sense of solidarity with people who find themselves in similar circumstances.

Both drivers and NRC have raised €1,110 for this very worthwhile cause.

Wishing the best of luck to our drivers Patrick & Robert Brown with this challenge!

Getting to the big concerts in Dublin Summer 2015

marlay_park_rathfarnham_dublin_concerts_72772What a smashing summer of amazing events we’ve had so far and we’ve a lot more to look forward to! From Marlay Park to the Iveagh Gardens, the Aviva and not forgetting Croke Park for plenty music and GAA action.

Where ever you are going make sure you plan your journey to and from the venue well in advance and give yourself an additional 2 hours travel time! It may seem crazy but there is a huge volume of people heading to these gigs so traffic delays are inevitable! NRC are standing by to pick you up so just call us on 01 6772222 and we’ll get you as close to the venue as possible!

Marlay Park have an amazing line up with Avici on 3rd July, Paulo Nutini and Imelda May on July 4th and then Longitude Festival happening from July 17th to 19th featuring Hozier, The Vaccines, Alt J, The Chemical Brothers and loads more fantastic acts.

So how do you get there?! Marlay Park run a shuttle bus service from the city centre direct to Marlay Park. The shuttle bus service operates from Georges Quay in the city centre direct to Marlay Park The fare: from €10 and can be booked online in advance.

The Iveagh Gardens play host to a great mix of acts this summer. Paloma Faith on July 2nd, The Frames July 4 & 5, Chic featuring Niall Rogers on July 9th, St Vincent on July 10th and to finish it off Damien Rice on July 12th. If you’re up for a laugh get down to the Comedy Festival in The Iveagh Gardens from July 23rd to 2th.

As a city centre location The Iveagh Gardens is serviced by Dublin Bus, Luas and Dart. Entry is usually available through the gates at Harcourt Street.

The Script with Pharrell Williams take to the big stage in Croker on June 20th and later in the summer July 24th and 25th Ed Sheeran will be entertaining the crowds at Croke Park. On the GAA front the Leinster GAA football semi-final kicks off on June 28th, Leinster GAA hurling final on July 5th, Leinster GAA Final on 12th July and plenty more action to come over the summer months.

Getting to Croke Park is relatively straight forward as it’s close to the city centre and is serviced by bus, dart and trains. Access to the stadiums is restricted to specific gates based on your seat so make sure to check before arriving to the area.

Gig of the summer happens in the Aviva with AC/DC hitting the stage on July 1st! There is no parking around the stadium so to make life easy and get an NRC to and from the gig! After the show you can usually get a taxi from outside the ground by simply flagging a taxi down. The entry points to the stadium for ticket holders are colour coded – either red, green, orange, blue or purple – with each colour designating the route that needs to be taken to access the stadium. You will also have to exit the stadium by the same colour coded route.

SO there is plenty to choose from this summer. Just plan your route well in advance and have the NRC number 01 6772222 on your phone and go have some fun!
